Paris 1911 - Sydney 2011
29 September to 20 October - 12pm to 6.30pm - Alliance Française, Level 13
Click to enlarge 2011 is the centenary of abstract art. In 1911 in Paris, Frantisek Kupka and Francis Picabia were producing completely abstract paintings, while in Munich Wassily Kandinsky was radicalized by the art he had seen in Paris, and he too was making abstract paintings. One hundred years on, and abstract art is being produced - with distinction - in Australia. The exhibition we are proposing at the Alliance Francaise de Sydney celebrates the continuum: "Paris 1911-Sydney 2011".
