The Alliance Française is a language centre offering courses in French as a foreign language to both adults and secondary school students. These courses are designed to cater for all levels of competency.
The Alliance Française Centre is located near the Queen Victoria Building, just a few minutes from Town Hall and Darling Harbour.
Our students benefit from a complete language experience. We chart students progress as they advance their skills and offer intergrated e-learning in the classroom. Currently five of our classrooms are equipped with
interactive whiteboards, enabling new opportunities for students' collaborative learning and problem-solving.
We also offer private tuition and corporate language training, tailored to your needs, at the Alliance or your office. Catch-up lessons are available for students who have missed one or more classes. Please contact reception for details.
Please note that outside our operating hours access to the premises is restricted. Doors close at 7.00pm, Monday to Thursday, 5.00pm Friday and at 2.00pm on Saturday

Online test
Before your enrolment, a written and an oral test will assess your level of French. This will allow us to place you in the most appropriate class. The written test, oral test and registration on our website are free of charge.*
If you are a complete beginner, we recommend our Level 1 Beginners courses or French for Travellers course as the most appropriate options to help you start your French learning. You are not required to sit a test to enrol in these classes.

The Oral Test
In order to give us a more accurate picture of your level of French, we need to test your oral expression and comprehension skills.
Should you wish to determine which of our classes would be most suitable for you please contact the Alliance Française by phone 9292 5700 or by email enquiries@afsydney.com.au after having finished your written test, to organise an appointment for an oral test. This oral test will last 20 minutes. It is free of charge. Your evaluation will be completed once your oral test has taken place.
*Be aware this test has been created for adults’ lessons. For classes for children and teenagers please contact us directly to discuss which class would be most suitable.
