"Entrez sur scène" Theatre workshop
Suitable for Years 8 - 12!
Click to enlarge This new workshop is a chance for students to create, participate and perform, whilst improving their French at the same time!
Year 8 : Enter / Exit Stage
- Physical and vocal warm-up, and revision of body vocabulary and instructions.
- Creating characters, using adjectives and exploring different physical behaviours.
- Learn how to make a good entry on stage.
- Learn theatre terms in French and explore customs of the audience / performer relationship.
- Improvisation: Acceptance Speech and a Grand Exit.
- In this course, the actor must make a speech to accept a prize (eg. Nobel prize, Oscar or César etc.), and then make a good exit to the sound of their peersʼ applause.
Years 9 / 10: Dramatic chorus or Poetry or Advertisements
- Example workshop outline: Dramatic chorus
- Physical and vocal warm-up
- Improvisation : A dramatic event divides the chorus and causes individuals to stand up and defend their opinions.
- Creation of a full scene with the dramatic event as a starting point. Discussion in groups, rehearsal of the scene, then group work to create the end of the scene. Presentation of each groupʼs staged scene.
Years 11 / 12 : The absurd
- Physical and vocal warm up.
- Exercises to explore the spatial world of the absurd
- Exploring what happens when our expectations are disappointed, or when we lose our balance. Finding these states and the gestures that express absurdity.
- Work on a short absurd scene. Discovery of the right tone and rhythm.
- Work on a short extract from an absurd text by French absurdist playwright: Ionesco.
Led by Alison Windsor, a theatre actress and teacher trained at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris.
