This course is designed for students with an excellent grasp of both written and spoken French who wish to increase their knowledge to the point where they are bilingual.
It is the most advanced course offered by the Alliance Française de Sydney.
The goal is to become an autonomous user of the language (Effective Operational Proficiency / Mastery) with a wide lexical repertoire and a good command of structures facilitating precise expression and establishing clear and spontaneous communication.
The course curriculum is based on the outline of units C1 & C2 of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" and prepares the student for the DALF C1 & C2 examinations. Oral comprehension & expression: - ability to respond to questions relating to short audio documents (newsflashes, polls, commercials) or to longer audio documents (presentations, discussions, interviews... around 10 mins long)
- ability to summarise an audio document (social sciences, pure sciences), articulate and present its contents clearly within the context of a debate with other French speakers
- produce an exposé based on several written documents, sustain a discussion and defend your own opinions with confidence
Written comprehension & expression: - ability to answer questions relating to "un texte d'idées" (literary or press), around 1500 words long or relating to a speech, a report, a literary text or article from the press of around 2000 words in length
- ability to produce a summary of several written documents (social sciences, pure sciences) of around 1000 words in length and then write a well-argued and solidly structured essay.
