Instructions
Each participating student selects a poem, which he or she will learn and perform before the Alliance Française jury, during a scheduled visit to his/her school*.
Out of the participating schools, a select number of students from each year group with the best performances will be invited to attend the Alliance Française de Sydney award ceremony in November, where they will collect a prize and recite their chosen poem. The poem selected must be one of the poems corresponding to the students’ year group (please refer to the selection on pages 3 to 7).
Entrants will be judged and will receive a mark out of 20 according to the following criteria:
• Memorisation (3 points)
• Intonation and pronunciation (6 points)
• Oral Expression (6 points)
• Originality of interpretation (5 points)
Additional rules for submission include the following:
• Submission of a cassette tape, CD, (MP3 or WMA electronic formats) or video recording the students’ performance to be received no later than Friday 28 August 2009. This is to be accompanied by a list of the names of all the students performing. These are to be sent to:

*The Alliance Française de Sydney jury will visit groups of performers comprised of 15+ students in total, subject to the proximity of the school to its Sydney premises. These visits will take place in September 2009. Schools having entered the song competition will be contacted by August to arrange a mutually convenient date for this visit.
Schools that do not perform their poem “live” before the Alliance Française jury, including those with less than 15 students, will be required to send a video of their students’ narration of the poems.
