Chers amis,
C'est l'hiver à Sydney, mais ça n'a pas
l'air bien méchant.
Alors, pour le 14 juillet, l'Alliance
française vous invite à sa soirée Bastille
Day organisée cette année au Dockside
sur Darling Harbour.
Dans un cadre agréable et une
ambiance détendue, avec vos amis et
vos proches, vous dégusterez un excellent
dîner français accompagné d'un
superbe vin également français.
Avec la chaleur des rythmes africains, la
volupté des danses tahitiennes, sous le
charme des plus belles chansons
françaises, vous pourrez
danser et rêver.
Et si la chance vous sourit, vous
gagnerez l'un des merveilleux
prix de la superbe tombola.
A bientôt le plaisir de vous
accueillir au Bastille Day de
l'Alliance française !

Caroline Nin
in Marlene

From the 30's to the 50's, Marlene Dietrich was the ultimate symbol of "femme glamour" meets "femme fatale". The extraordinary Caroline Nin uses song, spoken word and video to capture both sides of the Dietrich persona. Nin draws on Dietrich's life and music to paint a warm, 3-dimensional portrait of a passionate and witty woman who became both icon and hero.

Pierre Huyghe,
A forest of lines

In the Opera House Concert Hall, a forest of trees has strangely grown. The forest is on the stage, in the stalls, in the circles. Huyghe creates a unique and magical experience, with no beginning and no end, no division between stage and audience, no specified direction or path to take - it is a theatre liberated from rules.

Rebecca Driffield's expressive portraits have been exhibited in leading galleries across Europe and earned the Australian-born artist a long list of coveted awards and critical praise. As her career continues on a rapid trajectory from her adopted homeland in France, she is returning to Sydney to open her first comprehensive solo exhibition in 20 years. The Eye of the Mind comprises over 15 works which continue Driffield's exploration of the portrayal of the human face. A figurative painter, her work profiles real and imagined people. But nothing is as it first appears in Driffield's works.
