F20 is an initiative of the Embassy of France to Australia launched in 2014 to highlight 20 French-Australian cultural events emblematic of the richness and diversity of the Embassy of France’s activities in Australia.
This year is not only an important year for Australia which will host the G20 leader’s summit on the 15th and 16th of November in Brisbane, it is also significant for French-Australian cultural, educational and scientific cooperation.
2014 will be marked by the launch of numerous projects relating the centenary of the First World War, the celebration of major events such as the 25th anniversary of the Alliance Française French Film Festival, the 120th anniversary of the Berthe Mouchette poetry contest as well as unique events like the Victor Hugo exhibition about Victor Hugo: Les Misérables – From Page to Stage or the retrospective of the famous French artist, Annette Messager. This goes without mentioning numerous exhibitions, festivals, concerts and conferences that will complement this 2014 French-Australian cultural program.
Representing the four main areas of action of the cultural department of this Embassy (cultural industries, science and technology, education, commemorations) these 20 events, labeled F20, show the strength and complexity of the French culture’s presence in Australia.
