Arts and culture in Provence by Dominique Bluzet

Dominique Bluzet on Monday 19 November 6:30 pm, Director of four Theatres in Aix en Provence and Marseille (France) and Executive Director of the International Classical Music Festival Le Festival de Pâques (Easter Festival).

The vibrant Provence region is renowned for its spectacular scenery, architectural wonders and amazing food.  The sight of azure blue seas and lavender fields has famously inspired many artists such as Van Gogh in Arles and Cezanne and Picasso in Aix-en-Provence. Equally, Pagnol in Aubagne also represents an exciting and alluring creative precinct, including being home to world-class events and festivals

In this engaging event, Dominique Bluzet will discuss the Provencal cultural landscape, including the highlights of the thriving artistic life and the positive impact of culture and creativity on nearby territories, in terms of attractiveness, economic development and social cohesion.

Dominique Bluzet’s vision

At the head of four theatres, Dominique Bluzet is a crucial visionary and decision-maker in the French cultural landscape. He has managed to establish a cultural business model that is innovative and unique in the rapidly-developing Aix – Marseille region. The theatres are located in two cities – Marseille and Aix-en-Provence- and their names are: Grand Theatre de Provence, Théatre du Jeu de Paume, Théatre du Gymnase and Theatre des Bernardines. For Dominique Bluzet, “It consists of one unique Project in four venues, which represent all of the performing arts: Classical music – Theatre – Circus – Dance – Jazz. These venues have a strong, consistent and dynamic identity that comes from sharing resources and services and they cater to an audience that embraces our very specific DNA.”
