On Wednesday 18 October at 6:15pm, join us at the Alliance Française de Sydney for a talk with the renowned artist Tim Maguire. There will be wine & cheese on arrival.
In 1993 the Australian artist Tim Maguire won the prestigious Moët and Chandon Painting Fellowship which took him, his artist wife and young children to France for a year. Instead, they ended up staying for nine years, first in Champagne, then in the Loire Valley where they purchased and restored an old farmhouse and a neighbouring barn for studios, and eventually in Paris, where he began a close collaboration with the master printer Franck Bordas which continues to this day.
Despite a move to the UK in 2002, Tim has maintained a permanent studio in France and has regularly worked there. He and his wife currently spend half of each year in the Tarn-et-Garonne, painting, and restoring an old chateau they purchased in 2009.
Tim will talk about his art practice, and his experiences as an Australia artist working in France.
