An Australian War Requiem

This special concert on the centenary of the Armistice to end WWI presents Christopher Bowen’s Australian War Requiem, a critically acclaimed large scale classical choral work on conflict and loss with a uniquely Australian flavour. Set to a deeply moving libretto created by Pamela Traynor and based on letters between Australian soldiers at the Front and their mothers, the work transcends the national context to portray the collective sense of grief and loss as a truly universal experience.

The Sydney University Graduate Choir is joined by a full professional orchestra, five internationally acclaimed soloists, and children’s choir to present this major work in honour of the men and women who sacrificed so much a century ago, and indeed those who continue to serve today.
