There are not many sports which are as emblematic of France as pétanque.
Pétanque (aka boules) is a game played with steel balls, originating from the south of France. Whilst a long way from France, Ballast Point Park is just minutes from Sydney city, boasting magnificent harbour views and provides the perfect gravel for playing pétanque.
Equipment will be provided, as well as the opportunity for beginners to receive a quick tutorial before the competition begins. Pastis will also be offered for you to try, as well as some light nibbles including real olives de Provence.
To take part in this fun and light-hearted event, you need only to form a team of two (doublettes) or three (triplettes) and register now. Three rounds of matches will be played, with the best performing teams qualifying for the final and getting the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Please remember to wear sensible shoes and if you wish, feel free to bring own drinks and any additional snacks to add to the shared table.
Organised by the Boules Artistes Petanque Club (www.boulesartistes.org.au).
