Expect the unexpected at the 22nd Japanese Film Festival in Australia!

A must-see this year is the French, Japanese and Singaporean co-production RAMEN SHOP. It follows a Japanese–Singaporean ramen chef on his culinary journey to Singapore to piece together his family’s story. Armed with vague childhood memories and his late mother’s diary, can he uncover more than just delicious recipes?

SUKITA / The Shoot Must Go On is a documentary about the photographer who captured defining images of musical icons, including legendary David Bowie. THE THIRD MURDER is director Hirokazu Kore-eda’s (2018 Palme d’Or winner for SHOPLIFTERS) first foray into the crime genre. He creates a powerfully moving story about a lawyer’s struggle to reconcile his faith in the law while uncovering.

This year’s program focuses on films by young and emerging directors. SUMMER BLOOMS by Ryutaro Nakagawa and LOVE AT LEAST by Kosai Sekine are not to be missed. Come and meet our special guests from Japan—director Isao Yukisada (RIVER’S EDGE) and actress Shioli Kutsuna, (OH, LUCY)!
