Lyn is the President of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française Sydney, and Acting Foundation CEO for Bridging the Gap. In 2017 she was awarded Chevalier Ordre National du Mérite by the French Government and was awarded an ‘Ozcar’ by Tourism Australia for services to tourism in France. In 2008, Lyn joined Momentum2, who specialise in communications, strategic consulting and event management in a range of areas including sustainability, fundraising, education, science, health, tourism and culture, taking over as Principal in 2015. Lyn has also been awarded a number of scholarships, including a Mobil Fellowship in Arts Administration.
In 1990, Lyn moved to Paris to take up a role in the Australian Embassy as First Secretary, Cultural Relations and Information, and stayed for 18 years, also working for the South Australian Tourism Commission as their Regional Director for Southern Europe for over 11 years.
In the 90s, Brigid opened the first Australian Restaurant in Paris called ‘Woolloomooloo’. She then went back to Australia before returning to France in 2006. Settled this time in Provence, she ran Angloinfo Provence, the online resource for English speakers and developed her interest for the wine industry. Back in Australia again in 2012, Brigid set up Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia for Tourism Australia, helping position Australia as a premium wine destination.
After completing a French Wine Scholarship in Bordeaux in 2017 Brigid’s focus is on creating French Wine School, a combination of fun immersive French wine region education, wine events and customised travel to wine regions in France.
From launching an Australian restaurant in Paris featuring high quality Australian food style & wine, to today promoting French Wine experiences from Sydney, Brigid has an insight into both cultures, particularly food, wine and tourism.
Sarah Turnbull is a freelance writer. Formerly a television journalist with SBS, she began working in print media after moving to France from Sydney. Since then she has been writing regularly for magazines ranging from The Australian Magazine to Australian Gourmet Traveller. In the 1998 MPA awards Sarah was named Feature Writer of the Year for three investigative stories published in Marie Claire. Her international best-seller Almost French has been sold in the UK and the US. She now lives in Sydney.
