2022 AGM Photos

Thank you to all members who braved the cold and joined us for our Annual General Meeting.

The evening of Tuesday 31 May saw a gathering of around 30 Alliance directors and members in the newly-refurbished space on the Treizième (13th floor) for the Annual General Meeting. An opportunity to share information on how the Alliance has fared over the last year and the challenges and opportunities it faces over the coming year. Alliance President - Lyn Tuit, Treasurer - Gareth Dando and Denis Morandet – Director of Studies spoke frankly about the difficulties faced by the Alliance in 2021 and the hard work of our teachers, support staff and the board which resulted in only a small overall loss for the year 2021 and good prospects for 2022.

A highlight of the evening was the awarding of Lifetime Memberships to Bruce Bland AM and Bernard Le Bouriscot OAM. The Alliance Française owes a great deal to Bruce and Bernard, both long-time supporters.

Bernard is a long-time friend and supporter of the Alliance Française de Sydney. As a lover of French literature, Bernard has supported the AFS not only by attending functions organised by the AFS, but also supporting our beloved Alliance through generous financial contributions.

Bruce is a former President of the Board and this award recognises his outstanding services to the AFS. Bruce contributed to the building project of the AFS (designed by Harry Seidler). He has also been recognised by the Australian Government and a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant contribution to bi-cultural relations between France and Australia.

The evening ended convivially, with a glass of wine and some delicious cheeses and charcuterie.
