Throughout his career, he personified both the New Wave through his many roles under directors such as Jean Luc Godard, Truffaut and Chabrol, as well as embodying comedic excellence for Rapeneau and especially Philippe de Broca in 'The Man from Rio' and 'The Magnificent'.
Just this year, the Alliance Française French Film Festival paid tribute to him by programming the remastered version of 'Breathless' which was embraced and celebrated by Australian audiences.
