CORE WORKSHOPS
Scheduled throughout the year from March to November:
This workshop will help your students overcome pronunciation problems through games, language activities and songs.
The Prononciation workshop 1 is a fun introduction to phonetics, suitable for Years 7 - 8 students. Activities focus on French nasal sounds (e.g. raisin, pain, gant, etc.) through games, songs, rhymes, tongue-twisters and a song "Chanson à trous".
The Prononciation workshop 2 is suitable for second-time visitors to the Alliance Française and for students in Years 9 ,10 & 11 wishing to improve their pronunciation, particularly "semi -vowels" (ouille, oeil, ail etc.) Activities refine certain pronunciations that are usually difficult for English speakers of French, helping students to distinguish the sounds through audio games and puzzles.

Bring your class to life with a larger-than-life theater workshop.
For classes that need new stimulus to speak up, or those that already have plenty of dramatic flair, theater exercises give students a fresh perspective on speaking French.
Using characters, emotions and imagined situations to prompt impassioned and freed use of French, the workshops will improve fluency and confidence.
Workshops are available on three themes:
Enter / Exit Stage (recommended for year 8, 9 or 10):
Students create characters using simple adjectives and exploring different physical behaviours. Learning how to make an effective entry on “stage” and to find appropriate language to express their character, the class culminates with a speech given in character and a grand exit.
Dramatic Chorus (recommended for years 9, 10 or 11)
Students learn to choose language to defend their imagined character’s position when a dramatic event divides the group. The exercise creates strong motivation to extend vocabulary and to speak with expression. Group work will build towards rehearsal and informal performance of a scene.
Absurd Theatre (recommended for year 11 or 12)
Students are challenged to explore the world of the absurd and classic, yet approachable theater texts. Physical exercises lead to work on tone and rhythm when speaking French to achieve dramatic effect. A perfect workshop for ambitious students with a keen sense of humor!
