We recently tried the menu at Gavroche, and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. We were greeted by a warm and
friendly team, some of whom speak French, which immediately adds a lovely touch of charm. The service at the table is attentive and
thoughtful, and you feel comfortable straight away.
That feeling continues once the food arrives. The menu is generous and strongly reminiscent of traditional Lyon brasseries, making it a
great place to discover French cuisine. The dishes are hearty, indulgent and delicious, exactly the kind of food you want to linger over.
For a few hours, we really had the impression of leaving Sydney behind. An experience we genuinely recommend.

The Bon Vin restaurant offers a warm welcome to its patrons. With its delightful cuisine inspired by French gastronomy, it creates an ambiance perfect for romantic evenings. Lisa, the owner, adds to the charm with her delightful and welcoming demeanor. The ambiance reminiscent of French wine cellars adds to its charm. The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes, each as delicious as the next, ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Last year, a few of our teachers met Chef Rudy while he was working as a cook in a café near one of the primary schools that we work with at Alliance Française Sydney. Since then, this talented Marseille-born chef has opened a delightful French restaurant called L'Amuse Bouche in Surry Hills. We decided to indulge in their raclette on a Tuesday evening after class and were instantly transported back to the cold winter nights we fondly remember in France, where we would gather around the raclette grill, eagerly awaiting the moment the cheese would be ready to pour over a bed of potatoes and charcuterie.
You might have heard the buzz in Sydney about a French restaurateur who generously dished out free Nutella and lemon crêpes on Wednesdays during lockdown. For that, we have to thank chef and owner of Le Coq, David Poirier. His marinated free-range chicken dishes are truly a staple of French cuisine, and some of our staff and teachers, particularly those from the South-West of France, find his recipes simply irresistible.
Claire's Kitchen in Surry Hills offers an authentic French Brasserie experience, with a twist. From Tuesday to Friday, the mezzanine level, known as 'Le Salon,' is styled with the vibrant flair of Oxford Street. Here, guests can enjoy a cabaret show alongside their three-course French menu. Whether you're here for the show or the cuisine, you'll be treated to exceptional service by Marc Kuzma, also known as Clair de Lune, and his dedicated team.
Since opening their first iconic restaurant in Mosman in 2013, the four French owners behind Four Frogs have made a name for themselves in Sydney's culinary scene. Today, they offer delicious sweet and savoury crêpes in four locations throughout the city. Some of our members may have spotted us savouring a staff dinner (or two) in Circular Quay, or relishing a Four Frogs crêpe during our annual Bastille Day celebration. With six Bretons currently on staff at Alliance Française Sydney, distinguishing between wheat flour crêpes and gluten-free buckwheat galettes is a matter we take quite seriously.
