Join us for a public lecture (in French!) about the French novelist, literary critic, and essayist Marcel Proust who is considered to be one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. Notably, he wrote the acclaimed novel A la recherche du temps perdu (1913-1927), published in seven volumes, Jean Santeuil (1952), and the collection of prose poems Les Plaisirs et le Jours (1896). Proust also translated two books by John Ruskin into French.

About the Speaker: Jérome Bastianelli is the Deputy General Director of the Quai Branly Museum in Paris and an expert in Proust. He has been the President of the Société des Amis de Marcel Proust since 2018. Last year, in honour of the 100th anniversary of Proust's death in 1922, he wrote a bibliographic essay in which he imagined the life the illustrious author would have had if he had lived 20 years longer. Les années retrouvées de Marcel Proust was published by Sorbonne Université Presses.

The event will be moderated by Dr fLorence Cotel (sic), a French neuroscientist and entrepreneur who animates the Sorbonne University Alumni Club Australia.
