This quote from the 1925 Surrealist Manifesto illustrates how dark the world view had become for some French writers in the wake of the First World War.
For this special Bastille Day event, rare surrealist and symbolist texts donated to the Library by Randolph Hughes will be brought up. Curator Geoff Barker will discuss Hughes’ life and the background to some of these texts.
Drinks and light refreshments included.
