B2 Conversation (Upper Intermediate)

Entre les lignes de Gaël Faye - Jacaranda

CULTURE WORKSHOPS
Entre les lignes invites advanced French learners to experience literature as a living conversation. Through carefully selected weekly readings students step beyond the text to debate, analyse, question and connect - entirely in French.

Entre les lignes is built as an interactive literary circle inspired by the collaborative reading approach developed by Harvey Daniels (1990). Participants read approximately 40 pages each week before class and take on rotating discussion roles designed to deepen analysis and encourage active participation. Each session combines literary discussion with targeted pronunciation work, light grammar support, exploration of Francophone cultures and guided debate, creating a dynamic class structure that goes far beyond a traditional book club.

The course centres on Jacaranda by Gaël Faye (Prix Renaudot 2024), a powerful and poetic novel that moves between memory, silence and reconstruction. Through intimate storytelling, it explores the lasting traces of the Tutsi genocide and exile, opening rich conversations around identity, transmission, belonging and resilience, while immersing readers in contemporary French.

Course fees include the book Jacaranda by Gaël Faye.

This workshop is designed for B2+ level students.
