During these fun and dynamic one-week courses, high school students are encouraged to consolidate learning and build confidence in a friendly and supportive environment. This is the time to gain a competitive advantage for your exams - including HSC, IB and DELF Junior – as you strengthen your skills in the four core areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking), brush up on vocabulary and conversational topics, and get a hand on those sticky grammar points.

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Express who something belongs to, for example mes amis, son sac
  • Construct sentences in the negative, such as je n’ai pas de frère
  • Describe somebody’s nationality, adjusting the adjective where required, for example il est australien and elle est australienne
  • Use pronouns to avoid repetition in your speech
  • Understand whether to use de or à after the verbs faire and jouer
  • Confidently ask questions using the two constructions qu’est-ce que and est-ce que
  • Understand the difference between c’est and il est

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Make your French more sophisticated by avoiding repetition with the pronouns le, la and les
  • Incorporate verbs from the “2nd group” with confidence
  • Talk about things that have happened in the past using the passé composé tense using avoir, including some common but irregular constructions
  • Give negative commands using the impératif, such as ne ferme pas la porte

A2 | Holiday Course

During these fun and dynamic one-week courses, high school students are encouraged to consolidate learning and build confidence in a friendly and supportive environment. This is the time to gain a competitive advantage for your exams - including HSC, IB and DELF Junior – as you strengthen your skills in the four core areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking), brush up on vocabulary and conversational topics, and get a hand on those sticky grammar points.

 

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Describe with more accuracy where somebody comes from, for example il vient d’Espagne
  • Refer to a place as “here” or “there” using the pronoun y
  • Ask about the location of something using the pronoun
  • Describe things that occurred in the past, using both the imparfait and the passé composé as well as pendant
  • Emphasise elements of your speech using ce qui and ce que
  • Add colour to your French by using adverbs to describe the intensity of something, including très, beaucoup, assez, plutôt, (un) peu, pas du tout

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Talk about a past action or event that occurred even before something else in the past using the plus-que-parfait
  • Master pronouns in French with a focus on lequel, laquelle and lesquel(le)s
  • Talk about something somebody else said, also known as “indirect speech”
  • Hypothesise about future events using the conditional tense
  • Expand your vocabulary with adverbs that describe the manner in which something is done

  • Perfect the agreement of the verbs in various past tense constructions
  • Formalise your spoken and written French by using the passé simple tense
  • Make your French even more sophisticated, using indefinite pronouns to express quantity, such as chacun d'entre vous doit assister aux “Holiday Intensive”
